About

I'm Rachel. My minions know me as Miss B.

I'm a middle school science teacher at Black Forest Academy, an international Christian school located in southwest Germany. I do not consume large amounts of beer or wear a dirndel, and my ability to speak German is comparable to that of a two-year old German child.

This video will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the school where I serve.

Working with middle schoolers means I get to do a lot of things that you probably don't get to do.

For starters, I get to wear costumes to school on a pretty regular basis.

I get to laugh every day at something hilarious that a student has said or done in class.

I get to do wacky things during science class like drink water sitting under a layer of oil from a beaker, to satisfy curious minds.

I get a front row seat to not only the epic adventures of puberty, but to God's hand at work in my students' lives. In this video, Luke shares his testimony of how God healed his deafness and performs a song he wrote after the experience.

I am incredibly blessed to live where I live, doing what I do. My life is a dream come true, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for stopping by ... I do hope you will join me in this adventure of learning through teaching, as I serve the students of Black Forest Academy.

If you would like to know how you can support this ministry financially (I do not receive a salary from the school), please see this page.

If you would like to support my ministry in another tangible way, purchase something from my Etsy shop. Not only does each purchase go towards defraying my ministry expenses, but the jewelry serves as a reminder to pray for me and my ministry whenever you wear it. Many of the pieces are inspired by special students or memories I've made during my time in Europe.

If you have specific questions about what I do or want to know more about BFA, being a missionary, or knowing Jesus Christ as your personal savior, please email me at bertschirae(at)gmail(dot)com.
